When it comes to VoIP, everyone wants something normal: Buzzwords! He is from T.38, and ends at E911. The sad fact is, however, most people do not know what this Buzzwords really. Also does not prevent a lot of support providers don t bother to educate their users about it.

User led by various service providers, literally, like a lamb to the slaughter ... They were told we have are-E911! we are the perfect choice for you! You can count on us! when in fact usually is not even delivered fully aware of the limitations of VoIP 911. In this article, I will try to list that some of the concerns and risks when choosing rely on VoIP E911.

There are too many possible failure points:

1. Let's start close to home - or better yet - in your home! Something from damaged network cables, routers, Adapter, or other equipment can make your voice line below. If you ever tried VoIP ve m I'm sure you know what I m talking about - is not, and never as reliable as POTS (Plain Old Telephone System).

2. Bringing in your home ... one thing that we can not live without these days is power. With POTS or hands, you do not rely on electricity for your phone. VoIP and even so, there is no power means no phone! They wanted to call 911 during a power outage - or worse - someone who deliberately cut off power to your home ... Unfortunately, there is no DIALTONE!

3. And while we're on the force, don t think the problem isolated at home alone. An electric power which can happen anywhere: your house, and you serving node DSL or cable Internet, and data center provider, or provider of data center E911. Sure-makers today have a lot of Redundant servers and some even geographical redundancy, and data centers have generators and other equipment has been designed as a Tidy make you roll. These are all great in theory, to know that didn t generators kicked, and it took 15 minutes to switch to a backup data center. 15 minutes is not much - but many can be when your life on the line!

4. Let us depending on your little network provider .. we do not update them yet! if you re like me, you and your Internet experience outage every few weeks. This can take anywhere between 5 minutes, all day! No internet means no VoIP service, and no VoIP service without E911!

5. And what about internet providers? data center? their DNS servers? Their SIP server? some providers can be very reliable ... but things happen and will not even go out and hear the big providers.

6. Now we have the players they are playing music on the anniversary of the ISP's done, why don t we see a weak link - the E911 delivered! when I'm sure it would be to ensure their reliability, let's face it - there's no competition in the field. There are a total of 4 real-E911 provider in the country - all others are retailers (read: know anything!). This sector so new glitches that should have happened - and continue to occur in the future. If the VoIP provider - I can ensure the correct routing, high availability, and various other methods to get as close as we can for 100% uptime - is one thing that won t bits as the E911 provider's server down.

7. VoIP providers do not E911 service provider. This is wrong. Why? A VoIP provider announced the thousands, tens of thousands, or even more than that every day. If something is broken - is soon to be found - and fixed. A few days giving E911 calls, because they do not get the kind of production validation of VoIP providers. The things that can be split in half a day and slowly they d think just a day.

8. So many things about the things that you call E911 accuracy: your appliances working properly, incompetent ISP, backbone has ways incompetent, provider data centers, servers, and an internet connection to work properly, providing VoIP interconnect providers and E911 to function correctly, your phone number entries right before the database provider E911, E911 server provider to be competent, and the E911 provider has your correct address appropriate PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point), and should really call interconnection and E911 PSAP.

For many possible break points - should really expect a user to take the phone to 911 emergency? I do not believe so. And I think it's time to stop lying, service providers and regulators to lie to themselves and the nation. VoIP is not POTS, POTS never, and never as reliable as POTS. Anajaribu regulate providers to offer E911 will achieve nothing but a fraud security between users. Fraud is even more dangerous if consumers believe they are finally safe, because the regulator says so!

The bottom line is: E911 can not be relied upon. Do yourself a favor, and ignore Buzzwords and Hype. If you want the site POTS - hand relief - Prepaid even one - to act as administrator for the E911. Do not rely on E911 alone under any circumstances!

I wish you all a very safe, interesting experience with VoIP!
