When the door is the door? communication strategy is important to remember

In communications seminars, I often enjoy asking questions that seemed strange that brilliantly illustrates the point that words make one thing for everybody. (and that means different from the words ... but that's another article for another day)
I ask everyone to place their feet on the ground, their hands in their laps. I suggest they take a long slow breath and concentrate well first thing that pops into their heads when I say the next word.
I waited for the beat or two, and then a simple word like a cow or a dog or a horse.
What is visible at the level of other attractions. Many people think of animals I have mentioned (although from time to time I get some interesting interpretations of cows'ng) and each participant has the full visual, auditory and kinesthetic representation of something that is mentioned. What is important is to see their own pictures, sounds and feelings associated with those words truly individual and unique.
No dogs, cats or cows to be'never explained in the same way. In fact, I see a couple of cats in the course, they each have different experiences in the word cat Ilielezwa.
What's interesting is that the participants could not explain very well but when I asked (it is near or far Black and white or color?? Moving or still? To view or fuzzy? Etc) they know the answer immediately.
Every person in the world has a unique vocabulary that is based generally the ordinary vocabulary that everyone shares and specifically on the individual experiences each of us has had.
When two people are communicating, there is usually 3 (or more) different vocabularies work. Every person has a deep understanding of their awareness of the means, and for the purpose of communicating quickly and effectively, there are faces or accepted meaning. So each of us has our own experiences and our vocabulary
guess
size of vocabulary in our evaluation of the basic lives of others experiences, status, position, income, etc.
In other words we can agree that when they talk about horses, a lesson four-legged animal that some people ride in the back. (I m already murky area: some people might be offended that run bits). However, what will happen, especially in every communicator will all depend on the history or his own horse.
The lesson here is know your audience. It's easy to say, you know - like Bill Clinton., But observers expect and what the context, the message may not be similar to the one he sent has been received.
To avoid the problem of communication in the workplace or anywhere else for that matter let this serve as a reminder to understand that our understanding of the words may not be the same as anyone else, and if you get a t-year, our message, it is the obligation of communicators to take responsibility for communication.
To communicate is to get an answer. For that is determined by the recipient, and their response as a symptom of leaves as the target message is sent once they really get, and how to modify the subsequent communication is more like what message we wanted in the first place. While we have closed the door of communication, to change our understanding and approach, and try again, sometimes we get to know them more like something completely different. Maybe open. :-)
